The first spring painting, begun May 2025. These old apple trees were planted more than 100 years ago. The tree in the forefront bares transparent; an early August delicate apple, best as eaten right away after picking, or cooked into a delicious sweet apple sauce. Some years I've missed the entire harvest, as the the apples stay on the tree only about a week after ripening, then fall to the pasture floor to be enjoyed by deer, porcupines, raccoons, and hungry wasps.
The painting stumped me- for a few months I rearranged the apple tree, played with the sky.
Then, suddenly, I understood a cow lived in this painting of our old abandoned pasture- so the grazing cow, eating spring grass, arrived under the tree.
