March Stream
20" x 16"
Oil on Canvas Board
2026
When the days lengthen here, but snow still lies in the woods- the streams open up. Unlocked, they rush and tumble, cold as ice, heading for the sea a mile away.
This stream flows in the forest behind my home- the same stream I played near as a child while my mother clipped at branches nearby, making paths and gathering kindling. On this day in May, when the sun felt too hot to paint outside, I retreated to my studio, remembering the cool melting snow and long blue shadows.
Lupines are coming soon, but today was a day to paint March Stream.
