I have a fear of heights; the suspension bridge to Deer Isle is one of those bridges which makes my terrified heart beat fast, and my hands grip the wheel too tightly if I drive over it - which is seldom! When friends drive over it, I simply shut my eyes!

So last week I painted Eggemogin Reach, and included the bridge, for my submission to the "Paint the Peninsula" fundraiser for the Blue Hill Library. From the top of Caterpillar Hill, looking out over blueberry meadows, the forests, the bays and islands in the fog, I could see the bridge.

The online auction begins on July 13th, 2026, lasting the week, and the closing event is the evening of July 18th at the Blue Hill, Maine Library.

Opening bid for this painting is $325, and 50% will go to the Library. 90 artists are participating; what a sacred area we live in - a place of artists and nature, of beauty so profound our heart aches when we breath it in.
