Fall in Maine came hard and fast this year, trees exploding in color despite the 2 year drought. South of our front field, past the dried lupine stalks and tall grasses, the maples, oaks and poplars wore their color against the sky. Days passed, and late October winds began to change things everywhere- the reds leave first, male maples (who knew) shedding their crimson. Suddenly the little forest near my home beckoned- only a week more, we'll be different-

I set up and painted, struggling with parts, happy with other bits. That's how painting is for me. A learning process every time.
